The Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) is the state of Florida's social services agency. The agency oversees services for child safety, fostering, adoption, domestic violence, adult protective services, refugees, homelessness, mental health, substance abuse, childcare providers, human trafficking and public assistance. Within DCF, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health (SAMH) Program office is recognized as the single state authority for substance abuse and mental health services. The Office of SAMH is statutorily responsible for the planning, evaluation, and implementation of a comprehensive statewide system of care for the prevention, treatment, and recovery of children and adults with serious mental illnesses or substance use disorders.
North Florida Evaluation and Treatment Center (NFETC) is a 216 bed, all male, forensic, mental health rehabilitation facility. The Center is located in northeast Gainesville, Florida on 639 picturesque acres with regular sightings of deer, turkey and other wildlife. NFETC employs a variety of entry level to leadership positions including food service, maintenance, direct care, nurses, counselors, rehab therapists, medical doctors, security, psychiatrists, and psychologists.
This is a highly responsible and professional position serving as the Staff Assistant OPS within Nursing Services. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative team player who works seamlessly across all sections within the program office. This role requires the use of independent judgment, a proactive approach to responsibilities, and exceptional attention to detail. Specific duties and responsibilities include:
- Acting as the HR liaison, facilitating, communicating and submitting documents/requests to HR. i.e, new hire packets, Request Personnel Actions, position descriptions, Classification Request Forms, etc.
- Providing operational and management coordination to hospital in areas of incident reporting data analysis, abuse reporting investigations data analysis (including personnel action recommendations), Mortality Review Committee coordination, Disaster Planning operations support and Safety Committee support.
- Involvement in administrative reporting, data gathering/analysis and quality improvement initiatives.
- Incident report and "significant information" gathering such as hospital admission, treatment and discharge data.
- Resource for information regarding the activities of the forensic step-down people served as compared to the civil population.
- Database/spreadsheet development for analysis of above incident data plus medical diagnostic and results research, diagnostic to provide needed information for management, program planning and medical staff/nursing/clinical results evaluation.
- Facilitator and coordinator of Risk Management correspondence/interface with DCF Mental Health Program Office data collection, reporting and analysis requirements.
- Compiles and analyzes data for administrative decisions.
- Reviews, analyzes, and prepares drafts of memoranda and correspondence for administrative decisions and policies.
- Coordinates collection and presentation of data for use in preparation of budgets.
- Installs budget control methods concerning all phases of budget in fiscal, personnel and related administrative areas.
- Interprets established policy and provides information for the resolution of problems.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications:
- Three years of secretarial or clerical work experience.
- College education from an accredited institution can substitute at the rate of 30 semester or 45 quarter hours for each year of the required work experience.
- Vocational/technical training in the area of secretarial science or office/business studies can substitute at the rate of 720 classroom hours for each year of the required work experience.
- A high school diploma or its equivalent can substitute for one year of the required work experience.
