Social Security Attorney

Overview A law firm seeks a Social Security Attorney in Troy, Michigan. This role involves managing a high-volume caseload and representing clients in disability claims and hearings. The position offers independence, flexibility, and the opportunity to work in a client-centered environment. Duties Represent clients before the SSA at all levels, including Initial Application, Reconsideration, ALJ Hearings, and Appeals Council. Draft legal briefs, memoranda, and Appeals Council letters. Collaborate with Case Managers to prepare ERE submissions and ensure timely record acquisition. Maintain consistent client communication with empathy and professionalism. Monitor filing deadlines, hearing schedules, and appeals using Prevail and ERE systems. Participate in weekly department meetings and attorney strategy sessions. Work closely with supervising attorney on complex matters and receive structured mentorship. Option to participate in Federal USDC work over time. Requirements Licensed and in good standing with the State Bar of Michigan. Prior SSA representation experience preferred but not required. Strong writing, communication, and time management skills. Commitment to disability rights and client-centered advocacy. Education JD from an accredited law school. Certifications Licensed with the State Bar of Michigan.
