Sanitation Technician - 2nd Shift

Job Details Job Title: Sanitation Technician Reports To: QA Sanitation Supervisor Department / Group: Quality Assurance Position Type: Full-Time Job Shift: 2nd Shift Location: New Lenox, IL Exemption Status: Non-Exempt Pay / Salary Range: $19.00 hourly Travel Required: N/A Job Summary This position is integral to the success of the organization. Equipment and facilities services must operate at an optimum level to ensure that quality products are delivered to our customers. Sanitation contributes to the recurring upkeep and ongoing sanitation of plant operations by providing daily janitorial cleaning necessary for proper appearance and function of the facility. Provides ongoing sanitation to the facilities, offices, breakrooms, rest rooms and outside grounds. Responsibilities Learn, practice, and adhere to all written current good manufacturing processes (cGMPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as they apply to cleaning and sanitizing of manufacturing equipment, facilities, and all general areas Learn, practice, and adhere to all Safety and Quality Policies and Procedures Learn, practice, and adhere to all Maintenance Department Policies and Procedures Read, understand, and follow manufacturers’ directions for all chemicals used in the process of sanitizing manufacturing equipment Properly use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to safeguard against exposure to chemicals, electrical hazards, and eye and ear hazards Mix sanitizing solutions for cleaning parts, equipment, and facilities Cleans parts, equipment, equipment carts, racks, polishing brushes, mops, and mop buckets Maintains daily logs directly associated with specifically assigned areas, and report any deviations to the Maintenance Manager Assists with various bathroom duties (i.e.: excessive water clean-up, replacing light bulbs, re-filling toilet seat covers, spot check and clean restrooms as needed, monitor lunch/break room area and clean as necessary throughout the process of normal operating hours) Maintain cleanliness of water fountains throughout the entire facility Maintain supplies throughout the building (i.e.: hair nets, beard nets, shoe coverings, paper towels, paper cups, etc.) Maintain the facility and grounds (i.e.: weeding, trash removal, and overall cleanliness of area outside building, including snow removal) on a daily basis and responsible for maintaining the appropriate logs, report any deviations to the Maintenance Manager Completes assigned daily preventative maintenance on plant equipment Performs break down, transport, and set up of various office equipment and furniture Learn and practice Lean Manufacturing to improve efficiency and eliminate waste Actively looking for ways to improve site area safety Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment to ensure efficiency, employee safety, and product integrity Demonstrate good judgment by reacting to unsafe acts or conditions by making them safe or reporting them to those who can correct them Perform assigned tasks while wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), as required Work in other areas, as needed Must maintain confidentiality at all times Performs all other duties as assigned Regular and reliable attendance Qualifications & Requirements High school diploma or GED, and 1+ years work experience preferably in a manufacturing environment Read, write, speak, and comprehend English Comprehend basic math: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, weights and measures, and efficient use of a calculator Ability to communicate both written and orally within the organization Basic mechanical skills to disassemble and reassemble machinery Ability to safely use hand and power tools applicable to the tasks Positive suggestions to improve operations in the work center Team Oriented – being helpful, respectful, approachable, building strong working relationships and a positive work environment, is accuracy, reliability, and attention to detail Successfully completes and attains passing score of the entry level test Physical Demands Vision, hearing, and speaking to meet performance standards Ability to stand for long periods of time, push, pull, lift, climb, bend, stoop, squat, walk, and fine motor skills to work with the following tools: pressure washer, small hand tools, pallet jacks, mops, brooms, ladders, and portable stairs Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis and move heavier weights using proper equipment Must be able to work with exposure to the elements for short periods Must be able to work in elevated positions, at up to 25 feet and using proper safety precautions Work Environment Requires ability to work in an environment that contains fumes, dust, odors, low level noise, and temperature and ventilation variations while wearing any appropriate safety and/or protective clean room apparel required (i.e.: safety glasses, shoe covers, gloves, hair net, face mask, or respirator) May require working in cramped spaces or extending hands into machinery, working outside, and exposed to inclement weather Quality Statement Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s), allergen control, food defense, HACCP, SQF, and regulatory requirements so that we make consistently safe, quality products. Ensure the presence of visitors, contractors, and customers are documented on each visit in and out of the facility to maintain good manufacturing practices, allergen controls, food defense/food security and HACCP controls. Report all food safety and quality issues to management immediately. Partner with colleagues across all functions to share knowledge, skills, and information regarding quality and food safety. Adhere to all health and safety work practices. Exhibit an understanding of quality and food safety standards and be able to speak about the Finlays quality and food safety system and your role in it. Handle customer complaints in a timely and professional manner so that the customer is put first, always. Participate fully in Finlays programs that drive continuous improvement methodologies.
