Sr. Tier II Network Technician

Description The Digital Modernization Sector at Leidos is seeking a Tier II Network Technician to support various WAN and LAN networks. The technician will provide incident resolution, routing changes, firewall changes; act as a subject matter expert in WAN and LAN technologies; support intra‑and inter‑net and other data communications systems or segments of networked system. Responsibilities Support the installation and maintenance of client LAN/WAN devices. Respond to and resolve incident tickets. Draft and implement standard network change requests. Provide support to Tier III network engineers for incident management and projects (site surveys, technical exchange meetings, and coordination and installation of new equipment). Perform configuration management functions such as updating topology drawings, ensuring asset management records are accurate, and conducting inventory. Coordinate network operations, maintenance, repairs, or upgrades. Configure and troubleshoot Layer 2 switching (VLANs, port security, and thin configurations). Perform COMSEC custodian duties, ensuring proper handling, storage, and safeguarding of cryptographic materials in compliance with U.S. Government policies. Maintain accountability and inventory control of COMSEC equipment, keying material, and related documentation. Support the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of encryption devices, including TACLANEs and other secure communication equipment. Support network security operations, ensuring COMSEC integration aligns with overall cybersecurity requirements. Requirements TS SCI with Poly. Candidate must have 16 years of experience, which may be a combination of work history and education (e.g., doctoral degree and 8 years, master’s and 10 years, bachelor’s and 12 years, associate’s and 14 years, or high school diploma and 16 years). Compliance with DoD 8570 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level 2. Knowledge of basic routing fundamentals. Knowledge of Layer 2 switching concepts. Knowledge of Cisco/Juniper Return Material Authorization (RMA) processes. Experience with Layer 1 and Layer 2 network media (CAT5, single‑mode/multimode fiber, serial cables, small form‑factor pluggable (SFP)). Knowledge of TCP/IP and OSI models. Knowledge of Cisco IOS, Juniper JUNOS, and Brocade and Foundry operating systems. Familiarity with Layer 3 protocols such as OSPF, BGP, VRRP, HSRP, MPLS, LSP, and GRE. Familiarity with Microsoft Visio, ServiceNow, and Atlassian Confluence. Knowledge of ServiceNow or similar IT service management products. Up to 25 % travel.
