Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse to join our team. This position offers a supportive environment with a strong sense of camaraderie among staff members.

Contract Information

Accepting 13 or 26 week contracts
Ability to request up to 2 major holidays off per year
Only requires travelers to work 1 of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve)

Unit Overview

This unit is recognized for its beautiful atmosphere, often referred to as Issa-spa. Opportunities for professional camaraderie include staff book clubs and group dinners. The patient care environment is focused on low-risk deliveries and gynecological surgeries.

Experience and Qualifications

2 years of experience required in a Labor and Delivery setting
1st time travelers are accepted
Epic experience is required
Certifications required:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- FHM (Fetal Heart Monitoring)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- AWHONN Intermediate (Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) preferred

Responsibilities

The Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse will manage the care of patients experiencing labor and preterm labor. Responsibilities include:

Circulating in Labor and Delivery, assisting with OB-GYN, Post-Op, Pre-Op, and Scrub duties
Attending all deliveries, including high-risk deliveries
Administering blood and blood products, including cardioversion and defibrillation, as well as utilizing therapeutic blankets
Management of drains, epidural pumps, PCA pumps, and syringe pumps
Utilizing wound vacuum technology
Administering medications including Heparin, Insulin, and Magnesium Sulfate

Staffing and Floating

The staffing ratio for this unit is 1:1 to 1:3. The role may require floating to postpartum and possibly additional duties in labor and delivery environments.

Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts (19:00 - 07:30)
No block schedules
