Teller

Responsibilities Tellers act as service representatives responsible for providing a variety of paying and receiving functions, including processing deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, cashiers’ checks, money orders, and cash advances. Responsible for balancing each day’s transactions, verifying cash totals, and investigating/ resolving out‑of‑balance and discrepancy conditions. Establishes and builds member relationships by identifying members’ needs and educating them about specific products and/or services, enthusiastically cross‑selling Credit Union services. Performs a broad variety of member services functions such as opening and closing accounts, renewing certificates, and assisting members with bookkeeping and account maintenance. Certified Tellers resolve more complex member transactions independently and refer members as necessary. Provides member support via all channels (phone, mail, text, e‑mail, video solutions, and self‑serve channels). Actively promotes and cross‑sells digital services, serving as a digital services expert in the branch. Performs various clerical functions and assists other Service Representatives as required. Serves members promptly and professionally, meeting expected sales, volume, and service baselines to support branch goals. Ensures teller functions are correctly performed in accordance with established policies and procedures and maintains privacy of member account information. Processes transfers, cash advances, traveler’s checks, cashiers’ checks, money orders, and disburses cash or check share withdrawals. Posts CDs, HSAs, and all types of IRAs, verifies transactions, monitors deposit amounts, examines documents for endorsement and negotiability. Makes risk assessments of negotiable items—checks, drafts, wires, and cash withdrawals—within assigned limits of authority. Provides “override” function for other Tellers within defined authority limits as a Certified Teller. Assumes responsibility for the effective and professional performance of member service functions through sales and service, maintaining the Credit Union’s professional reputation. Maximizes penetration of Credit Union products and services by identifying cross‑sell opportunities and assisting with new member onboarding. Answers questions and assists members with more complex transaction and account problems, providing resolutions within defined authority limits and referring members to branch leadership as needed. Opens and closes accounts, processes stop‑payments, resolves transaction corrections in a timely manner, performs file maintenance and account changes. Assists with electronic services including online banking, mobile banking, Card Guard, Bill Pay, mobile deposit, and other digital services, troubleshooting member questions and issue resolution. Assists with maintenance of self‑assist branch machines and video equipment, informs branch management of servicing issues. Provides guidance to other Teller Service Reps and trainees as directed by branch management, assists area personnel as required. Adheres to Branch Safety, Security, and Teller Audit procedures. Performance Measurements Member Focus – Delivering member service and demonstrating professionalism in day‑to‑day operations. Teller Statistical Record – Meeting defined teller performance scores and baseline goals. Attendance & Punctuality – Maintaining scheduled attendance and timely return from breaks. Training, Education & Certification High school graduate or equivalent. Experience Requirements None; previous retail sales or other similar financial institution experience preferred. Solid math skills and attention to detail and accuracy.
