Description

American Traveler is hiring a Step Down RN for a night-shift position requiring SD/PCU ratio experience and vent management skills.

Details

• Step Down unit within a hospital setting
• 13 or 18-week contract options available
• Night shift, 4x12 hours (19:00-7:30)
• Patient population includes COPD, CHF, Pneumonia, Flu, Sepsis, DKA, and Post-COVID cases
• Targeted patient ratios of 1:4, with potential to flex up to 1:5-6
• Unit is trialing a team nursing model with two nurses and a PCT partnering to care for a group of patients
• Care includes tele monitoring, drips (insulin, heparin, Cardizem, and others), and ventilator management with respiratory therapy support
• Trach and vent patients on unit, no orally intubated patients
• Epic EMR experience required
• Floating required at facility discretion, potentially to main, south, or north campus locations within 15 miles, including ED for boarders
• Must be available to work every other weekend and every other holiday

Requirements

• Active RN license (any state or compact) accepted; OH or compact license required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 1.5 years of relevant nursing experience
• SD or PCU ratio experience required (ICU experience does not qualify)
• Ventilator experience required
• EPIC charting experience required
• Must pass an online EKG/tele competency assessment prior to starting
• Ability to read and interpret cardiac rhythm strips required
• Level 1 or 2 trauma experience preferred
• Travel nursing experience preferred
• No history of license disciplinary action

Additional Information

• Provide tele, drip, and vent management for a medical-surgical stepdown patient population
• Care for trach, vent, BiPAP, and high-oxygen requirement patients with respiratory therapy support
• Manage insulin, heparin, Cardizem, and other cardiac drips
• N95 fit testing required prior to working on the HRRU unit unless PAPR is provided/needed
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Maximum of 14 days RTO allowed per contract; must be requested at time of initial submission with no changes after an offer is made
• Local candidates within 50 miles are not accepted
• Previous PERM/PRN staff or prior agency travelers not extended due to tenure must wait 6 months before reapplying
• Facility reserves the right to cancel shifts due to low census and may cancel the agreement with two weeks' notice
