Financial Analyst (Clinical Research)

Location: Fully Remote (U.S.-based candidates only)
Salary: $60,000 – $75,000

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-driven Project Financial Analyst to support our Revenue Cycle team with financial reconciliation, budget validation, and billing accuracy. This role is instrumental in ensuring that project finances are complete, accurate, and aligned across internal teams and external partners.

You’ll work cross-functionally with finance, accounts receivable, and external stakeholders to resolve discrepancies, finalize financials, and maintain data integrity across the lifecycle of clinical research projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead final budget reconciliation activities , ensuring all financial elements are complete and accurate
• Review project amendments and apply analysis to validate proper billing and revenue recognition
• Consolidate data from multiple systems to identify inconsistencies and resolve gaps
• Partner with internal stakeholders to verify financial figures and address variances
• Collaborate with external partners (including sponsors and CROs) to reconcile balances and close out outstanding items
• Perform detailed budget analysis and interpretation , ensuring alignment with project scope
• Prepare and post final journal entries related to project closeout activities
• Maintain high standards of financial data accuracy and support audit readiness through proper documentation
• Assist in generating financial reports, ensuring all reconciliations and updates are reflected appropriately
• Participate in discussions to finalize project financials, including negotiating adjustments when needed
• Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy
• Maintain a professional demeanor in all communications with internal teams and external partners
• Support additional finance or reconciliation-related tasks as assigned

Qualifications

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• At least 1+ year of experience in finance, accounting, or a related field
• Required: Experience in a clinical research environment

Skills & Competencies

• Intermediate Excel skills (including pivot tables and formulas)
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities
• High attention to detail with strong organizational skills
• Solid communication and collaboration skills
• Experience with financial reconciliation and variance analysis
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 tools
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently and influence outcomes where appropriate
