Underwriter

Job Description

We are seeking an Underwriter to join a growing team in the Miami area. This role will focus on the underwriting and credit analysis of small businesses, and making informed lending decisions across a variety of business financing products. The ideal candidate will come from a fintech or financial services firm and have hands-on small business underwriting experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze small business credit applications and assess overall creditworthiness, repayment capacity, and risk.
\n
• Review business and personal credit reports, bank statements, financial statements, tax returns, cash flow, and other supporting documentation.
\n
• Underwrite small business lending products including business lines of credit, MCA, working capital loans, and short-term financing.
\n
• Evaluate business cash flow, revenue trends, debt obligations, average daily balances, deposits, and other financial indicators.
\n
• Identify credit risks, inconsistencies, fraud indicators, and potential repayment concerns.
\n
• Apply established credit policies, underwriting guidelines, and risk parameters to lending decisions.
\n
• Determine appropriate loan structures, approval amounts, terms, pricing, and risk levels based on the overall credit profile.
\n
• Communicate with sales/origination teams to obtain additional documentation and clarify financial or credit information.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
\n
• 2+ years of experience in business credit underwriting, commercial lending, alternative lending, or fintech lending.
\n
• Direct experience underwriting small business financing products, such as lines of credit, MCA, working capital, or other business loans.
\n
• Strong understanding of business credit analysis and cash-flow-based underwriting.
\n
• Experience analyzing bank statements, financial statements, credit reports, tax returns, and business performance.
\n
• Ability to make sound, independent credit decisions in a fast-paced lending environment.
\n
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify financial discrepancies and potential risk.
