Medical Assistant

Department: Clinical | Schedule: Full-Time, 40 hours/week | Reports to: Practice Manager

The C.W. Williams Community Health Center is looking for a compassionate, dependable, and skilled Medical Assistant to join our clinical team. In this role, you'll work alongside physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide quality, patient-centered care.

What You'll Do

As a Medical Assistant, you will provide both clinical and patient-support services, including:

• Obtain and document patient vital signs, medical history, and chief complaints.
• Prepare patients for examinations and assist providers during exams and procedures.
• Perform routine screening tests and basic laboratory testing.
• Perform phlebotomy and specimen collection.
• Perform EKGs and other clinical procedures within your scope of practice.
• Prepare and administer medications with appropriate provider authorization.
• Provide patient education regarding medications, disease management, home care, and special diets.
• Perform wound care, dressing changes, bandaging, suture removal, and basic first aid procedures.
• Assist with Xray and physical therapy procedures as directed.
• Maintain clinical supplies, equipment, and instruments; sterilize instruments as required.
• Accurately document patient care and clinical information in accordance with applicable requirements.
• Follow HIPAA, OSHA, infection control, safety, and organizational policies.
• Protect patient privacy and maintain confidentiality at all times.
• Respect the cultural and religious practices of patients and provide respectful, compassionate care.
• Recognize and respond appropriately to patient needs and urgent situations.
• Work collaboratively with providers, nurses, frontoffice staff, referral staff, social workers, and other members of the care team.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For Required Skills & Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• At least 1 year of Medical Assistant experience preferred.
• Strong clinical and patientcare skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a patientcentered approach.
• Proficiency with computers and electronic health record systems.
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Sound judgment, problemsolving ability, and attention to detail.
• High level of integrity, dependability, and professionalism.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, providers, and coworkers from diverse backgrounds.
• Current credentials and certifications required for the position, as applicable.

Physical Requirements

This position involves regular standing, walking, sitting, reaching, bending, and use of hands for clinical tasks. The Medical Assistant may routinely lift or move supplies and equipment weighing approximately 20–25 pounds, with occasional lifting of heavier items depending on the clinical setting.
