This role involves ensuring efficient and safe processing of ore, managing personnel, and coordinating with other departments to achieve production goals while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.Job ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Coordinator – Pellet Operations, the Shift Supervisor will be responsible for the following:Participating in all safety activities and meetingsMaintaining work flow by monitoring steps of the process, setting processing variables, observing control points and equipment, monitoring team and resources, studying methods, and implementing cost reductionsDeveloping reporting procedures and systemsTroubleshooting and facilitating corrections to equipment and process malfunctionsInitiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departmentsAccomplishing results by communicating job expectations, planning, monitoring, and appraising job resultsCompleting a production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel, accomplishing work results, establishing priorities, monitoring progress, revising schedules, resolving problems, and reporting results of the processing flowProviding information by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and dataMaintaining a safe and clean work environment by educating and directing team on the use of all control points, equipment, and resourcesHelping resolve team problems by analyzing data, investigating issues, identifying solutions, and recommending actionOther duties as assignedSkills and QualificationsWorking knowledge of processing facility operations in the Mining industry including pellet plant operations, safety, maintenance, equipment, and staff utilization.Previous supervisory experience.Strong verbal and written communication skills including the ability to effectively train and mentor employees.Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.Comfortable with a fast-paced environment.Excellent work ethic, and attendance record.Able to work 12-hour shiftsEducationHigh School Diploma or GED.Physical RequirementsThis position requires some work in front of a PC, desk, and phone and regular field work.Some lifting and strength required when working in plant.Must be available to work shifts, weekends, call-outs and overtime.Salary$92,000 - $115,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.BenefitsHealth Insurance: Comprehensive medical and dental coverage with an HSA option.Retirement Plan: 401(k) with 4% company match.Lincoln STD, LTD, & Life Insurance: Coverage provided by Mesabi Metallics.Paid Time Off (PTO): 0-3 Years: 96 hours per year.Plus 9 paid holidays and 2 floating holidays.Mesabi Metallics Company LLC is an equal opportunity employer and values diversity in the workplace.
