Fleet Maintenance Technician

Diagnose, inspect, and perform minor repairs and adjustments on motor vehicles and accessories in a timely manner, in order to maintain vehicles in proper working order and return to "in-service" condition promptly. Conduct comprehensive safety inspections of fleet and maintenance shop. Schedule vehicles for routine/regular maintenance and repair by private vendors. Arrange for warranty repairs with local dealerships. Assemble, install, repair and/or remove special automotive equipment. Coordinate fuel shipments. Coordinate pick-up of hazardous waste and used tires. Change flat tires. Mount/dismount tires on rims using proper equipment. Maintenance of vehicle service island and storage facilities. Arrange for the delivery of automotive equipment to and from maintenance/repair facilities. Re-inspect vehicles after completion of repairs to ensure compliance. Arrange service, ensuring sufficient vehicles are available for shift deployment. Review all invoices for services completed and ensure appropriateness of charges. Check invoices for correct balances. Immediately report any discrepancies to the Administrative Sergeant. Input all services and repairs into the Fleet Focus computer system. Complete a daily fuel inventory and weekly fuel reconciliation. On a daily basis, maintain inventory records of all tools and equipment, repairs, secure bids, and removal of junk tires and used vehicle fluids. Maintain current policy and Fleet Operations Bulletins to guide in the servicing and maintenance of automotive equipment. Maintain an adequate stock of automotive supplies. Estimate future needs and prepare requests through normal requisition channels. Conduct a comprehensive inventory of tools and other related equipment on a rotational basis to maintain the integrity of the report. Immediately report any discrepancies to the Administrative Sergeant.
