Job Title: Community Nutrition Program Manager, Nutrition Incentives and SNAP Outreach

Grade Level & Anticipated Hiring Range: 08 | $58,000 - $66,800 

The salary range for Grade 08 is $58,000 - $75,600. Consistent with GSFB's Salary Administration Policy, most new employees are hired between the minimum and midpoint of the grade range. Starting salaries above the midpoint may be considered in limited circumstances based on directly relevant qualifications and experience. 

Designation: Exempt

Location: Hybrid: Combination of remote, office-based, and community-based work. Regular statewide travel to support program sites, volunteers, and partners.

Schedule: Regular business hours Monday-Friday; Occasional evening or weekend hours to support classes, trainings, outreach events, or partner activities.

Your Role in Our Mission:

At Good Shepherd Food Bank, we believe everyone deserves reliable access to nutritious food and the resources that support lifelong health and well-being.

As our Community Nutrition Program Manager, you'll lead key nutrition access initiatives that help Maine neighbors stretch their food budgets, purchase fresh local foods, and connect with trusted nutrition resources. You'll oversee Farm Fresh Rewards, one of Maine's nutrition incentive program, support SNAP Outreach efforts, and manage Nutrition for ME, a statewide online resource connecting people to nutrition information and healthy eating tools. These programs help reduce barriers to healthy food and empower people to make informed choices for themselves and their families.

This role combines program management, community partnerships, outreach, and communications. You'll work closely with retailers, community organizations, volunteers, and internal teams to expand program participation, strengthen relationships, and increase access to healthy food resources across Maine.

In This Position, You Will:

Lead and Grow Nutrition Incentive Programs

• Coordinate and oversee Farm Fresh Rewards program activities and partner engagement statewide.
• Ensure program operations are delivered effectively and aligned with organizational priorities and funding requirements.
• Identify opportunities to expand participation, strengthen partnerships, and improve program outcomes.
• Use data and feedback to continuously enhance participant and partner experiences. 

Strengthen Partnerships and Community Impact

• Serve as a primary contact for retailers, food pantries, healthcare partners, community organizations, and other stakeholders.
• Build strong relationships that support equitable access to healthy food and nutrition resources.
• Collaborate with partners to address barriers, improve participation, and identify opportunities for growth.
• Represent Good Shepherd Food Bank and its nutrition initiatives throughout the state. 

Support SNAP Outreach Efforts

• Coordinate outreach activities that increase awareness of and access to SNAP benefits.
• Support volunteers, partners, and community members with outreach resources, training, and information.
• Strengthen partner engagement and collaboration that helps connect eligible Mainers to food assistance programs. 

Manage Nutrition for ME

• Maintain and enhance Nutrition for ME as a trusted online nutrition resource for Maine communities.
• Coordinate website updates, nutrition resources, and SNAP-related content.
• Partner with Marketing and Communications to develop engaging digital content and outreachcampaigns.
• Monitor engagement and use insights to improve reach, accessibility, and effectiveness. 

Drive Program Operations and Performance

• Coordinate program logistics, communications, materials, and reporting requirements.
• Maintain accurate program records and support grant and funder reporting.
• Use data to monitor performance, evaluate impact, and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Partner across departments to ensure oordinated, high-quality program delivery. 

What to Expect

• Hybrid work that includes remote, office-based, and community-based activities.

• Regular interaction with volunteers, partners, and communities across the state.
• Frequent use of a computer and other office technology, along with occasional transport of program materials and supplies to community sites.

Milestones:  

Within Your First 60 Days: Learn, Connect, and Contribute

You'll spend time learning Farm Fresh Rewards, SNAP Outreach, and Nutrition for ME operations, meeting key partners and stakeholders, understanding funding and reporting requirements, and building relationships across the organization.

By the end of this phase, you'll be prepared to support upcoming program activities, maintain key partner relationships, and identify immediate opportunities to strengthen program delivery.

Within Your First 6 Months: Lead, Improve, and Strengthen

You'll take ownership of day-to-day program management, strengthen retailer and community partnerships, improve operational processes, and begin identifying opportunities to expand program participation and engagement.

By this stage, you'll be independently managing core program activities and serving as a reliable resource for partners, volunteers, and colleagues.

Within Your First 12 Months: Expand Impact and Drive Results

You'll lead annual program planning, use data and feedback to guide improvements, strengthen statewide partnerships, and help increase the reach and effectiveness of Farm Fresh Rewards, SNAP Outreach, and Nutrition for ME.

By the end of your first year, you'll have established a clear plan for continued program growth and contributed to measurable improvements in partner engagement, program participation, digital resource utilization, or community reach.

Requirements:

As a Successful Candidate, You Have:

• Experience independently managing a program or complex initiative from planning through implementation, evaluation, and improvement.
• Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse audiences.
• Experience coordinating community partnerships, outreach initiatives, or stakeholder engagement activities.
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Comfort using data, reporting, and evaluation tools to guide decisions and measure results.
• Experience developing or managing digital content, websites, communications, or outreach materials.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• A passion for improving access to healthy food, nutrition resources, and community support services.

Additional Experience That Would Be Helpful

• Experience in public health, nutrition, food systems, community development, or related fields.
• Experience working with retailers, farmers markets, incentive programs, or public benefit programs.
• Experience managing websites, digital communications, or social media platforms.
• Experience working with grant-funded programs.
• Bilingual or multilingual communication skills.
