Senior Structural Engineer

Job Description:General Summary:The Senior Structural Engineer, with limited supervision from the Manager of Structural Engineering, will provide the technical, organizational and communication skills to produce well-designed and coordinated construction documents for structural systems.Essential Job Functions:Review and/or establish project scope, structural budget, and design approach with Manager of Structural Engineering, Project Manager and/or clientPerform as project lead engineer for larger projects, managing the production effort of staff assigned to the project in terms of quality, budget, and scheduleKeep current with latest code publications and apply in everyday analysis as applicable. Ability to seamlessly apply minimum code requirements to construction documents and specifications.Apply loading on structures, including wind and seismic forces, and convey forces and required detailing on drawings.Produce innovative design solutions and give valuable engineering judgment when applicableCommunicate with other disciplines to produce well-coordinated construction documents with a basic understanding of Architectural details and MEP requirementsMaintain project files containing project calculations, correspondence, appropriate reference material, and other itemsCommunicate scope changes to the Manager of Structural Engineering and Project ManagerMentor less experienced engineersUse available structural computer programs to enhance productivity and verify results with manual checks.
