Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Profession: Nursing Specialty: Operating Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Shift Hours per Shift: 10 hours (6:45 AM - 5:15 PM) Experience: Minimum of 2 years of acute care RN experience required. License: Registered Nurse Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS Must-Have: Experience in ortho, trauma, spine, ENT, and general surgery. Description: A professional nurse is accountable for the care of a group of patients. The Registered Nurse (RN) focuses on safe and effective patient and family-centered care. Customer satisfaction and quality outcomes are priorities. The RN is responsible for maintaining a financially stable unit and promoting personal development. There is an emphasis on evidence-based practice and education supported by a governance framework. The RN supervises licensed and non-licensed staff members. Applying the caring processes of a recognized model of care, the RN assesses, develops, implements, and evaluates the plan of care. Patient and family comfort, education, and satisfaction are focal points. The RN applies educational and professional experiences to deliver quality care. Mentoring and precepting staff are also essential responsibilities. Responsibilities include performing assessments and reassessments per policy and procedure. The RN demonstrates the ability to make sound independent decisions. Initiating, prioritizing, and implementing the plan of care are critical tasks. The RN reviews and revises the plan as indicated, collaborating with patients, families, and interdisciplinary services. Utilizing resources appropriately supports the needs of the organization and patient/family. Monitoring and documenting responses to clinical interventions is necessary. Facilitating, coordinating, providing, and evaluating education specific to patient and family needs is part of the role. The RN delegates tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel. Functioning as a mentor/preceptor is required. Encouraging teamwork and identifying opportunities for improvement is essential. Participation in quality, safety, and service process improvement efforts is expected. The RN complies with regulatory standards and participates in the governance model. Required skills include patient assessment, care plan development, implementation, evaluation, and patient education. Additional skills include regulatory compliance, family education, mentoring, precepting, teamwork, and quality improvement.
