Product Owner

Job Title

Pay Rate: $75 per hour Work Mode: Remote

Responsibilities

• Support product vision and alignment; communicate the vision within the team and to adjacent teams.
• Track product outcomes; monitor product KPIs and support the team in meeting targets.
• Backlog ownership: maintain a well-groomed backlog; write clear user stories and acceptance criteria.
• Contribute to quarterly/sprint planning; propose sequencing and set realistic expectations.
• Work closely with the Agile team to clarify requirements and keep alignment to the plan.
• Partner with the Scrum Master to ensure effective ceremonies and backlog readiness.
• Track dependencies, risks, and decisions; share updates with stakeholders.
• Partner with engineering and architecture to capture non-functional requirements in epics/stories.
• Support cloud modernization (AWS); maintain release checklists and learn program patterns.
• Coordinate work to align with program milestones; communicate impacts and timelines.
• Assist with feasibility and cost-of-delay discussions by gathering inputs.
• Understand relevant regulatory/compliance constraints; reflect them in backlog and acceptance criteria.
• Help build and maintain a product roadmap; update based on learning and delivery reality.
• Support lightweight customer-driven discovery; synthesize findings into backlog items.
• Pull and interpret simple delivery/quality metrics to identify opportunities and test hypotheses.
• Grow with the role; learn the domain/platform and use AI tools for drafting summaries and communications.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (business, computer science, humanities, etc.).
• Minimum of 2-4 years direct experience with Agile teams.
• 5 years in business, technology, or consulting.
• Knowledge of Agile development methodologies and IT project management.
• Experience working with data and databases and translating technical constraints into product requirements.
• Experience supporting cloud migrations/modernization initiatives; familiarity with AWS is a plus.
• Experience working in a multi-team program environment, including dependency management.
• Demonstrated ability to support and enable a Scrum team, driving backlog readiness.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to use data to prioritize and make tradeoff decisions.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to lead the team to push the solution and progress.

Preferred Skills

• Knowledge of the insurance industry.
• Strong experimental mindset to drive innovation amongst uncertainty.
