Robert Half is partnering with a growing electronics manufacturing company in Hamden, CT, to identify a detail-oriented and strategic Buyer . This position is responsible for sourcing materials, negotiating with suppliers, managing inventory levels, and ensuring the timely procurement of components needed to support production schedules. The ideal candidate will have purchasing experience within a manufacturing environment and strong vendor management skills.

Responsibilities

• Source and procure electronic components, raw materials, and production supplies
• Negotiate pricing, contracts, delivery schedules, and terms with suppliers
• Create and manage purchase orders while ensuring accuracy and timely processing
• Monitor inventory levels and coordinate replenishment activities to meet production demands
• Maintain strong relationships with vendors and evaluate supplier performance
• Collaborate with production, engineering, and planning teams to forecast material requirements
• Track open purchase orders and expedite critical deliveries as needed
• Analyze purchasing data and identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements
• Resolve supplier, pricing, quality, and delivery issues
• Maintain accurate procurement records and ensure compliance with company policies
• Support inventory control initiatives and cycle count activities
• Assist with new product launches by sourcing materials and qualifying suppliers

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or a related field preferred
• 3+ years of purchasing or procurement experience in a manufacturing environment
• Experience purchasing electronic components, circuit boards, or related materials preferred
• Strong negotiation and supplier relationship management skills
• Knowledge of inventory management and supply chain best practices
• Experience working with ERP/MRP systems
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
