Louisiana Department of Public Safety & Corrections – Corrections Services Rayburn Correctional Center – Angie, LA Special Entrance Rate: $19.88 per hour. Premium Pay: $2.00–$5.00 per hour for each regular hour worked based on years of service. Responsibilities Provides individual and group therapy in compliance with the established treatment plans, as well as facilitating specialized groups as assigned to assist offenders in making realistic and adequate discharge plans by identifying and exploring available resources, as well as necessary skills and psychological factors related to re‑entry into society. Interviews offenders to develop a thorough bio‑psycho‑social assessment; identifies problems or needs, addresses adjustment difficulties, and identifies strengths and deficits. Maintains appropriate documentation in inmates’ medical records, charts treatment provided, tracks progress of each case, and makes appropriate referrals to other departments. Maintains statistics on the number of offenders seen and coding of those offenders. Assesses offenders to determine the potential for self‑mutilation or injury, and/or suicide; orders appropriate management instructions using Suicide Watches or Mental Health observations as appropriate, and monitors progress of those offenders while providing individual counseling. The opportunity to provide needed services to a specific demographic in a unique setting while working with a diverse group of skilled professional Mental Health, Medical, Security, and Non‑Security staff. Individual and Group Therapy Supervise and Coordinate Self‑Help Treatment Programming Performs individual interventions with clients experiencing crisis The incumbent works with other professional Social Workers, Social Service Counselors, and security/non‑security staff Skills / Attributes Attention to detail and awareness of surroundings Ability to enforce the Policies and Procedures of the Department of Corrections and Rayburn Correctional Center Ability to provide Mental Health services in a strict environment Qualifications Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice as a Licensed Master’s Social Worker (LMSW), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Certified Social Worker (CSW), plus a master’s degree in social work. Permanent status will not be granted without LMSW or LCSW licensure in Louisiana; a CSW credential will not be accepted for granting permanent status. No Civil Service Test Score is required. Any degree, certificate, special license, or DD‑214 must be verified by official documentation prior to hire. Any qualifying experience based on college credit or college hours must have an accompanying transcript for verification. Failure to provide qualifying work experience may result in the application not being considered. Salary Salary depends on level of experience. Vacancies may be filled as Social Worker 1, 2, or 3, depending on the selected applicant(s). Maximum salary for Social Worker 3 is $78,790.00 annually. Benefits Defined benefit pension plan.
