Registered Nurse (RN) - Acute Care

Acute Care Nursing Position

These positions are roles within the Acute Care Nursing (A.C.N.) department. Personnel will provide direct care to patients of all ages, from neonates to adults, presenting with diverse acute and chronic health problems.

Facility: Pine Ridge Comprehensive Health Care Facility, 607 Indian Health Road, 44B Pejuta RD, Pine Ridge, South Dakota, 57770

Schedule: 12-hour shifts-Day: 0700–1930; Night: 1900–0730

The Registered Nurse is responsible for leading the nursing process and managing complex patient care plans. Services shall cover the range of Acute Care Nursing services typically provided in rural civilian practice, including the following:

• Pediatric and adult medical-surgical in-patient care
• End-of-life care
• Cardiac telemetry

Acuity:

• Diabetes mellitus
• Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
• Pneumonia
• RSV/COVID/Influenza
• Hepatic encephalopathy
• Alcohol withdrawal
• Failure to thrive

Core Responsibilities:

• Assessment & Planning: Independently assess biophysical, psychosocial, and educational needs of medical, surgical, and pediatric patients.
• Care Coordination: Develop, evaluate, and adjust individual patient care plans every shift.
• Clinical Intervention: Initiate treatments, medications, and resuscitative measures using standing orders and protocols.
• Equipment: Weight scales, patient lift devices, IV pumps, Accucheck glucometers, Vital Signs, EKG, cardiac telemetry, Defibrillator

Qualifications and Requirements:

• License: Must hold a current, unrestricted state nursing license from any of the 50 U.S. states or D.C.
• Experience: Minimum 2 years acute care nursing experience
• Certifications: Current AHA BLS, ACLS, PALS
