Languages English About Program UNITE Service Corps is an AmeriCorps program of Operation UNITE that places volunteers in schools throughout Eastern Kentucky to support student achievement, prevention education, and community engagement. Volunteers serve alongside school staff to provide small-group and one-on-one math tutoring for students in grades 3–5, deliver the Too Good for Drugs prevention curriculum to fourth-grade students, support school-based UNITE Clubs, and participate in local community coalition activities. Volunteers serve during the school year and follow the daily schedule of their assigned partner school. In addition to direct service, volunteers complete required training and professional development designed to strengthen communication, teamwork, leadership, problem-solving, time management, technology, and other workforce-readiness skills. UNITE Service Corps provides volunteers with meaningful hands-on experience while helping schools meet important student and community needs. Volunteers build professional skills, develop strong relationships with students and school staff, and gain valuable experience that can support future education and employment goals. Eligible volunteers receive a living allowance during their term of service and, upon successful completion of the required service hours, may earn a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award. Additional benefits may include health insurance, childcare assistance for those who qualify, student loan forbearance, and payment of accrued interest on eligible student loans. UNITE Service Corps is seeking dependable, caring, and service-minded individuals who want to make a positive difference in the lives of students and communities across Eastern Kentucky. Member Duties AmeriCorps volunteers serve full-time in elementary schools across Eastern Kentucky, providing one-on-one and small-group math tutoring to students in grades 3–5 using teacher-directed instruction. Volunteers teach the evidence-based Too Good for Drugs prevention curriculum to fourth-grade students, assist with school-wide prevention activities, support UNITE Clubs, and participate in local community coalition meetings. Volunteers maintain service records, complete required training and professional development, and collaborate with teachers, principals, and school staff to support student success. Throughout their service, volunteers develop valuable workforce skills in communication, leadership, teamwork, professionalism, problem-solving, and community engagement while making a lasting impact in the lives of students and their communities.
