Job Summary Under supervision of a Nurse Manager or licensed clinical leader and in collaboration with other team members, provides direct and indirect patient care in accordance with the scope of practice. Essential Functions Interview patients about current problems, medications, allergies and reviews medical records for pertinent previous and current information. Measure and record patients’ vital signs such as height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, or respiration. Provide basic patient care or treatments including dressing wounds, treating bedsores, giving enemas or douches, rubbing with alcohol, massaging, performing catheterizations, routine immunizations, nebulizer treatments, and visual acuity tests. Participate in patient treatment regimen, including administering medications under the supervision of a physician and registered nurse. Perform office responsibilities such as answering phones, taking messages, and triage within scope of licensed practical nursing practice accurately and timely. Collect samples such as blood, urine, or sputum from patients and perform routine laboratory tests on samples. Prepare patients for examinations, tests, or treatments and explain procedures. Help patients with bathing, dressing, maintaining personal hygiene, moving in bed, or standing and walking. Qualifications Licenses/Certifications: Current LPN Licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Education: Graduate of an accredited Licensed Practical Nursing Program. Experience: Some experience in a healthcare setting preferred. Must be certified in Basic Life Support or willing to become certified within 3 months. Strong communication skills Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Basic knowledge of patient education: interview and listening skills, teaching and engagement techniques, understanding health-related conditions and information. Ability to accurately perform vital signs and obtain pertinent health information including temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, height, and weight. Ability to administer medication via injection, intravenous, and oral routes. Knowledge and ability to perform specific procedures and tests as appropriate to the clinical setting. Ability to communicate in a professional, courteous, clear and concise manner.
