Accountant

Responsible for coordinating and performing daily accounting and financial functions for the Opelika Housing Authority, including bank and account reconciliations, accounts payable, deposits, budget tracking, payroll and benefits administration, audit support, and financial reporting. Serves as a liaison between the Finance & Administration department and Authority cost centers. Provides accounting and system support through Yardi , including vendor maintenance, budgeting, accounts payable, employee timekeeping, and financial data management. Assists with HUD replacement reserve requests, annual audits, 1099 reporting, employee onboarding and termination, and compliance with HUD, GAAP, and applicable governmental regulations. Supports staff with Yardi training, troubleshooting, and accounts payable processes while maintaining accurate financial records and meeting organizational deadlines.
