Registered Nurse (RN) Charge Nurse

Registered Nurse (RN) – Charge Nurse We are looking for a dedicated RN who will serve as a charge nurse on our 12-bed emergency department unit. The role requires providing direct patient care and supervising a nursing team, ensuring effective staffing, and maintaining high-quality, evidence-based practices. Responsibilities Supervises and mentors nursing and support staff during assigned shift. Determines staffing level and assignments based on staff availability, abilities, census, patient acuity and workflow. Provides direct patient care as needed. Floats between staff to assist with problem‑solving. Takes patient assignments to meet staffing needs. Evaluates the effectiveness of patient care and identifies issues affecting desired outcomes. Responds to complaints about patient care and related services and manages them through established channels. Performs role‑specific duties, including entering orders, performing admissions or discharges, and coordinating transfers. Ensures staff have necessary equipment and supplies to provide safe, quality care. Integrates evidence‑based practices into operations and clinical protocols. Creates and fosters an environment encouraging professional growth. Participates in performance improvement and continuing education. Provides quality patient care; works flexible shifts/units as needed. Maintains regular and reliable attendance. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Current Kentucky or compact state RN license. Associate’s degree from an accredited nursing school (Bachelor’s degree preferred). Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within one month of hire. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required within one year of hire. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within one year of hire. Handle with Care certification required within 30 days of orientation. Experience in emergency department preferred.
