Lead Mammography Technologist

Radiology TechnologistThis position assists radiology manager with the day to day operations of the department. Ensures adequate stocking of supplies, staffing and scheduling of personnel, production of high quality images and the efficient department operation. Performs mammograms, DEXA scans and localization procedures. Advanced skills and knowledge in the positioning of the breast so that they serve as a mentor to the other technologists. Executes yearly reviews of QA and Procedure Manuals, orients and trains new staff members, maintains routine equipment calibrations and ensures calls are placed to vendor for equipment malfunctions. Maintains all MQSA required documentation in an acceptable form for inspections. Performs other duties as assigned.Minimum Job RequirementsSuccessful completion of a formal Radiologic Technology Program, which meets the requirements of the ARRT.Current ARRT and State of Indiana Radiation Operators license.Has passed ARRT mammography board examination.A minimum of two years of experience in the practice of Mammography.Technical and didactic experience in mammography and bone densitometry.BLS certification or must obtain during Orientation and prior to reporting to department.Preferred Job RequirementsSkills / Knowledge / AbilitiesRequires excellent communication skills to effectively and tactfully communicate with patients and their families and guests, co-workers, managers, Hospital Administrators, providers, consultants, business associates and regulatory agencies presenting a professional image as a representative of Marion General Hospital.Requires interpersonal skills necessary in order to carry out duties in a professional manner, as well as the ability to work well under stress.Requires developed computer skills and the ability to learn and proficiently perform computer applications related to department operations and job function.Requires excellent customer service skills with special emphasis on patient centered care.Requires analytical and problem solving skills.Requires the ability to be discreet and protect the integrity of any confidential matter or information encountered during the performance of job duties.Working ConditionsTypical hospital clinical environment with frequent standing and walking.Work may be subject to interruptions.Risk of occupational exposure to blood and other potentially infectious, electrical and radiation hazards.Works with protected health information.Requires ability to work any shift, occasional extended hours, holidays and/or weekends based on the needs of the department.Physical and Mental Activities, Tools and EquipmentRequires standing, walking, stooping, bending, lifting, pushing and pulling to provide patient care and to utilize patient care devices necessary to perform duties in a safe manner.Requires using computer and other standard office equipment.Uses patient care tools and equipment as they relate to area of clinical specialty.Equal Opportunity Employer Marion Health is a smoke-free environment.
