Job Description: Director of Operations and Membership Organization: BIA of Central Ohio Position: Director of Operations & Membership Employment Type: Full-Time About Us: The Building Industry Association (BIA) of Central Ohio is dedicated to advancing the residential construction and development community in Central Ohio. With a rich history and a focus on collaboration, we are committed to supporting our members, fostering innovation within the homebuilding industry, and promoting homebuilding’s importance to thriving communities. Position Summary: The Director of Operations and Membership is a pivotal role within the BIA of Central Ohio. This position oversees the financial and operational aspects of the organization and its affiliated entities. It combines strategic oversight and process development with hands‑on execution, emphasizing financial management, operational excellence, sponsorship support, strong member engagement, and membership and organizational growth. Key Responsibilities Financial Management Oversee and manage financial operations for the BIA and related organizations. Maintain strong relationships with accounting partners to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance. Prepare and present financial reports, budgets, and forecasts to leadership and stakeholders. Ensure compliance with all regulatory and financial obligations. Operational Oversight Lead the performance and optimization of the Association Management Database (AMS). Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth day‑to‑day operations of the organization. Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Manage Board of Trustees and related Committees reporting, meeting materials, and other essential Board support. Member Engagement and Growth Act as a liaison to BIA members, ensuring their needs and expectations are addressed. Promote and communicate the value of BIA membership to potential and existing members. Grow our member value proposition and expand our ability to effectively communicate this value proposition. Maintain and grow relationships with the National and State Associations (NAHB and OHBA), effectively incorporating their value and offerings into our membership value. Foster relationships within the residential construction and development community. Support and collaborate with the events and programming team to integrate sponsorship opportunities into the BIA’s value proposition. Oversee the BIA’s member retention efforts. Focus on membership growth as critical to the BIA’s current and future success. Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Nonprofit Management, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered. Experience: Minimum of 5 years in financial management, operations, or a related leadership role. Proven track record in member engagement and growth, sponsorship sales support and/or business development. Experience working with association management systems (AMS) or similar databases. Skills: Strong financial acumen and proficiency in financial software and tools. Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills. Strong organizational and project management abilities.Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with CRM or AMS platforms is a plus. Why Join Us?
