About The Hotel Mining Exchange Hotel was built in 1902 as a stock exchange for local mining companies, offering a one-of-a-kind experience in the heart of downtown Colorado Springs. Our elegant yet casual public spaces and guestrooms are all newly renovated. Job Role At Practice Hospitality, our Guest Service Agent ensures an efficient, informative, and professional check‑in/out process so guests can focus on enjoying all of the hotel’s amenities. As the first point of contact, the Guest Service Agent helps create a positive first impression of our hotel. Responsibilities Greet guests and complete the registration process, including inputting and retrieving information from the computer, confirming guest details and room rate, selecting rooms, coding electronic keys, promoting marketing programs, providing a welcome packet, and ensuring the guest knows the room location or is accompanied by a bell person. Assist guests with check‑out, ensuring rooms and services are correctly accounted for, using the point‑of‑sale system, handling money, processing credit and debit cards, accepting and recording various forms of payment, converting foreign currency, making change, and processing gift certificates and cards. Establish credit by verifying credit cards or obtaining cash. Direct guests to rooms by showing location on the hotel map. Convey information to guests by receiving and transmitting messages, mail, facsimiles, packages, etc. Provide concierge duties by answering any inquiries regarding hotel and other services guests may require, such as entertainment, shopping, business, and travel. Maintain records by entering room and guest account data. Collect revenue by entering services and charges, computing bills, and obtaining payment. Make hotel and other reservations by entering or telephoning requirements, checking availability, and confirming details. Secure guest valuables by processing lost and found to the housekeeping department. Confirm guest identity for registration. Maintain a safe working environment by verifying, reporting, and acting in a safe manner. Demonstrate thorough knowledge of hotel information, including room categories, rates, packages, promotions, the local area, and other general product knowledge, and answer guest questions and inquiries. Use up‑selling techniques to promote hotel services and facilities to maximize room occupancy. Respond to guest inquiries and requests and resolve issues in a timely, friendly, and efficient manner. Field guest complaints, conduct research, and negotiate solutions for guest satisfaction. Receive, input, retrieve, and relay messages to guests. Requirements Basic Qualifications & Skills High School Diploma (or equivalent education/experience). Must be flexible regarding schedule, based on business demands (including AM, mid, PM, and overnight shifts). Previous experience demonstrating strong customer service. Successful completion of a criminal background check. Desired Qualifications & Skills Familiarity with Opera Cloud (PMS), minimum 1 year preferred. Ability to multi‑task and prioritize a variety of tasks with minimal direction. Proven teamwork skills. Enthusiastic and energetic. Excellent communication skills.
