Join IU Health's Hand & Upper Extremity Program, one of the fastest-growing specialty practices in the organization. This full-time RN position offers the opportunity to work directly with a highly specialized Orthopedic Hand and Shoulder Surgeon, including patients undergoing Total Shoulder Replacement procedures. Responsibilities include patient assessments, vital signs, triage, education, pre- and post-operative care, wound care, documentation, medication preparation, assistance with minor procedures, clinic and surgery scheduling, FMLA and disability paperwork coordination, and support of the Medical Assistant team. The role is primarily based at our Indianapolis and Carmel locations and may require travel between sites. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm., with no weekends or holidays required. This is an onsite position, with the potential for one remote workday per week after six months. Candidates with experience in a surgical specialty are preferred, and additional experience in wound care or total joint surgery is highly valued. Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.

Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program. Exceptions: Candidates who have not graduated from a nationally accredited program may be considered if they possess more than two years of relevant clinical experience. Such exceptions are subject to review and approval by the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).

Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.

Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.

May require ability to assess patients without face-to-face interaction.

Requires awareness and understanding of legal implications of patient care activities and performance as a Registered Nurse.
