We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join a banking organization in the Twin Cities. In this role, you will help maintain accurate financial records, support reporting obligations, and contribute to a well-controlled accounting environment. This position is well suited for someone who can manage recurring close activities while also improving processes and partnering across departments. The role requires working on site five days per week.

Responsibilities:

• Produce financial statements and related reports that provide leadership, board members, and oversight committees with timely insight into organizational performance.

• Reconcile general ledger accounts on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, investigating discrepancies and resolving outstanding items promptly.

• Contribute to the month-end and year-end close cycle by recording journal entries, validating balances, and helping ensure all deadlines are met.

• Partner with employees across the organization to research accounting questions, clarify financial data, and resolve recordkeeping issues.

• Lead or support accounting projects focused on operational improvement, stronger controls, and more efficient departmental workflows.

• Act as an accounting representative on cross-functional initiatives, including selected implementation efforts and purchase accounting work related to merger activities.

• Prepare documentation and supporting analysis for internal audits, external audits, regulatory reviews, and budget planning activities.

• Follow applicable banking regulations and compliance requirements while supporting additional departmental priorities as needed.

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, or equivalent practical experience supported by at least a high school diploma.

• At least 2 years of accounting experience in progressively responsible roles.

• Hands-on experience with month-end close, general ledger management, journal entries, and account reconciliations.

• Strong Excel and Microsoft Word skills with the ability to organize, analyze, and present financial information clearly.

• Ability to work effectively in an on-site environment five days per week

• Background in banking or another financial institution is strongly preferred.

• Familiarity with Fiserv or a similar financial platform, or possession of a relevant accounting designation, is preferred.

• Clear communication skills and a thorough, responsive approach when working with colleagues and stakeholders
