Start Date: September 21, 2026

Location: Asheville, North Carolina

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 12-hour shifts with rotating weekends (minimum 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule period); flexible holiday scheduling; no on-call required

Highlights:

• 40-bed cardiovascular stepdown unit specializing in cardiac and vascular surgery patients including open heart, CABG, valve replacements, TAVR, thoracic procedures, and vascular interventions
• 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio in a progressive care environment with telemetry monitoring
• Comprehensive case mix including CV surgery, vascular surgery, overflow medical cardiology, and complex surgical procedures
• Cerner EMR system; equipment includes Baxter IV pumps, CADD epidural pumps, and various patient lifts
• Manage cardiac drips (phenylephrine, dobutamine, milrinone, cardizem, amiodarone, heparin, nitroglycerin), epidurals, chest tubes, and tube feedings
• Collaborative team environment with approximately 100 staff members across day and night shifts

Requirements:

• Active North Carolina RN license or compact state license
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
• Stepdown and telemetry nursing experience required
• Prior cardiovascular surgery and vascular surgery experience preferred (open heart, TAVR, lobectomy, AAA repair, fem-pop bypass within the past year)
• CVICU experience highly preferred
• Proficiency in chest tube management, epidural management, cardiac drip titration, and critical care protocols
• Flexibility to float to other stepdown units, medical-surgical units, or emergency department inpatient holding areas as needed
