The Difference Card
About The Difference Card
At The Difference Card, we’re making healthcare benefits work better—for employers and their employees. Since 2001, we’ve helped organizations build smarter, more cost-effective health plans, delivering an average net savings of more than 18% for our clients. Our innovative solutions combine flexible plan design, healthcare reimbursement, risk management, and wellness strategies to create greater value for everyone. With a national presence and a people-first approach, we partner with employers and brokers to make benefits simpler, smarter, and more valuable.
The Opportunity
The Account Executive is responsible for retaining and growing an existing book of employer clients through strong broker partnerships, strategic consultation, and exceptional client service.
In this role, you’ll build and maintain trusted relationships with strategic broker partners, understand the needs of employer groups, and provide consultative guidance that helps clients develop effective healthcare strategies. You’ll lead and participate in midyear, pre-renewal, and renewal meetings, support implementations and employee education, and identify opportunities to expand the value of our solutions.
The ideal candidate is a motivated, relationship-driven professional who takes ownership, communicates with confidence, and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. You’ll work closely with brokers, employers, employees, and internal teams to deliver an experience that earns loyalty and drives long-term growth.
What You’ll Do
- Manage & Grow Client Relationships: Own an assigned book of small and mid-market employer accounts, with a focus on retention, relationship development, and long-term growth.
- Build Broker Partnerships: Develop and maintain strong relationships with strategic broker partners and their teams. Serve as a trusted resource and key point of contact throughout the client lifecycle.
- Provide Strategic Consultation: Understand client needs and provide thoughtful, value-added guidance to help employers develop healthcare strategies that support their goals and create long-term value.
- Lead Renewal Conversations: Conduct midyear, pre-renewal, and renewal meetings with brokers and clients. Clearly communicate financial results, plan performance, and renewal recommendations.
- Support Implementation & Education: Partner with broker teams and internal departments to ensure successful implementation of The Difference Card. Conduct broker education meetings and provide the information and support needed for a successful client experience.
- Lead Employee Education: Conduct professional and engaging open enrollment meetings that help employees understand and confidently use The Difference Card. Effective education should reduce member inquiries, increase adoption, and support client retention.
- Drive Retention & Growth: Identify opportunities to strengthen client relationships, retain existing business, and introduce additional products and solutions that provide greater value to employer groups.
- Expand Client Relationships: Cross-sell additional lines of business to existing employer clients and identify opportunities to transition appropriate large accounts to the self-funded Difference Health Plan.
- Deliver Exceptional Service: Respond to broker and employer inquiries received by phone and email within established service expectations, generally within 4–8 hours.
- Collaborate Across the Organization: Develop strong working relationships with internal teams, including Operations, Technology, Finance, and Underwriting, to effectively advocate for clients and deliver solutions.
- Travel for Client Engagements: Travel as needed to meet with clients, brokers, and employees and support key meetings and events.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
