Summary of Essential Duties:

• Delivering nursing care for GI patients across the preoperative and postoperative period from admission to discharge.
• Assessing, communicating patient status, performing nursing procedures, completing preoperative check list, coordinating with anesthesia personnel, completing preoperative orders and documenting care given.
• Ensuring that the patient needs are met through the continuum of care, while concurrently providing support to facility staff and the operating physician.
• Maintaining clinical competencies with GI Lab procedures, including EGD and colonoscopies.
• Preparing patients prior to procedures.
• Providing continuous post-anesthesia monitoring and documentation.
• Managing airways, oxygenation, and hemodynamic stability.
• Identifying and responding to post-anesthesia complications or emergencies.
• Coordinating timely discharge or transfer of patients.
• Collaborating with endoscopy nurses, proceduralists, and support staff.
• Ensuring infection control and recovery bay readiness.
