Safety and Compliance Intern

Location: Portland, OR
Hours: 15-20 hours per week, (Flexible Schedule between 7am-10pm)
Employment Type: Part-Time Temporary

We are seeking a motivated Safety Intern to assist with day-to-day safety initiatives at our Portland, OR facility. This is an excellent opportunity for a college student pursuing a degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), Industrial Management, Engineering, or a related field who wants hands-on experience in a manufacturing and industrial environment.

The schedule is flexible and can accommodate classes. This role is ideal for a student looking to build practical safety experience while making a meaningful impact.

Requirements:

What You'll Do

Conduct routine safety audits and facility inspections
Assist with hazard identification and corrective action tracking
Support incident investigations and near-miss reporting
Perform safety observations on the shop floor
Help update and organize safety documentation, records, and training logs
Assist with PPE compliance and safety program implementation
Participate in safety meetings and toolbox talks
Support ergonomic assessments and workplace improvement initiatives
Help maintain OSHA-related documentation and compliance records
Assist with safety training preparation and employee engagement activities

Qualifications

Currently pursuing an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, EHS, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Comfortable interacting with employees on the production floor
Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Interest in workplace safety, compliance, and employee well-being
