Medical Support Assistant (Office Automation)

Receptionist

Job Description

Perform the full range of receptionist, record-keeping and miscellaneous clerical duties within the ambulatory setting.

Complete request forms, manually or automated, for individual patient orders, blood work and other requests.

Receive patients and visitors as the initial point of contact, in person or telephonically.

Maintain all patients' records, both electronic and paper, according to regulation ensuring each entry contains proper patient and health care provider identification.

Perform clerical duties inherent to the in-processing (reception), care and out-processing (transition) of outpatients, families/caregivers and guests.

Notify appropriate staff of the patient's arrival.

Respond to emergency calls and notifies emergency medical personnel.

File original medical documentation in the patients' record, and copies of medical documentation into research files as necessary.
