About the Position

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a 24-bed combined ICU and stepdown unit, managing both ICU and stepdown patient assignments (8-16 ICU and 8 stepdown patients daily)
• Care for a complex patient population including intensive care, ventilator-dependent patients, post-cardiac procedure (PCI), balloon pump, Swan-Ganz, CRRT, ECMO, sepsis, PE, post-thrombectomy, and post-stroke (non-hemorrhagic) cases
• Manage ventilators, tracheostomies, tube feeds, chest tubes, and titrating drips, including DKA management
• Maintain patient ratios of 1:1-3, utilizing available departmental support including dedicated RT, intensivist, and midlevel ICU providers available 24/7
• Document and manage care using Cerner EMR; operate unit-specific equipment including CRRT, Arctic Sun, Balloon Pump, EKOS, Penumbra, and external pacer
• Float within scope of practice to PCU, MedSurg, and Telemetry units as needed

• Active RN license valid in the state of Kentucky
• Minimum 2 years of ICU nursing experience
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• CPI certification required

• Proficiency with Cerner EMR, Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Philips monitoring systems
• Hands-on experience with CRRT, Arctic Sun, balloon pump, EKOS, Penumbra, and/or external pacer
• Experience as a travel nurse or ability to adapt quickly to new environments; first-time travelers are welcome
• Familiarity with block scheduling preferences

• Work in a well-supported ICU environment with 24/7 intensivist coverage, dedicated respiratory therapy, midlevel providers always on site, and a full ancillary support team
