Medsurg/Oncology Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking an experienced Medsurg/Oncology Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. This position requires dedication and commitment, as well as the ability to provide high-quality care in a fast-paced environment.

Job Details

Unit Type: Med Surg (Medical Surgical)
Shift Length: 12 hours
Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours per week
Contract Length: 26 weeks

Patient Care Responsibilities

Care for adult and geriatric patients with conditions such as strokes, hypertension, COPD, cellulitis, CHF, atrial fibrillation, chest pain, myocardial infarction, and other medical-surgical concerns.
Administer medications, including titration of drips such as Lasix and Heparin.
Assist in the care of patients undergoing chemotherapy and other oncology treatments, with an emphasis on safety and support.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive patient care.
Provide support with trach and BiPAP as needed; experience preferred but not required.
Perform assessments, monitor vital signs, and respond to emergencies as necessary.

Work Environment

34-bed unit with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-5 days and 1:5-6 nights.
Supportive unit culture emphasizing teamwork and a family-oriented approach.
On-site charge nurse available for guidance and resource support.
Availability of nursing aides and patient care technicians to assist with care.

Qualifications

Experience: Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience required; first-time travelers are welcome to apply.
Certifications: BLS Certification and NIHSS required.
Must be willing to float to other MedSurg units as needed.
Self-scheduling may be considered based on unit needs.

Additional Information

This role requires every other weekend work and holiday coverage as needed.
No on-call or standby requirements.
Orientation will consist of 1-2 shifts on the floor.
No specific scrub color is mandated.
