The City of Chesapeake’s Public Works Operations is seeking a motivated, organized Account Technician to provide accounting and administrative support to its Operations divisions. If you enjoy working with data, keeping records accurate, and helping a team stay organized, this could be a great opportunity for you. As an Account Technician, you will support daily operations by preparing requisitions, maintaining records, coordinating supplies, and providing responsive customer service. Key responsibilities include: Researching and compiling information from multiple databases and other resources. Ordering and receiving office supplies and equipment and reconciling related records. Preparing requisitions in the City’s financial system. Entering, maintaining, researching, and reporting data across multiple databases. Maintaining files, generating reports, and providing general office support. Performing other related duties as assigned. What you bring to the team: Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills. The ability to extract and summarize information from various sources. Initiative, self motivation, and the ability to work effectively with others. Excellent customer service and verbal and written communication skills. The ability to understand and apply work processes and procedures. Knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and Access. Knowledge of Maximo and PeopleSoft is desired. VOCATIONAL / EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT :

Requires high school diploma or GED / HSE and any combination of education and experience equivalent to satisfactory completion of one year of college education in accounting or related field.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT :

In addition to satisfying the vocational/educational standard, this class requires a minimum of one year of related, full‑time equivalent experience.

SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES :

Requires a valid driver’s license and a driving record in compliance with the City Driving Standards.
