Sterilization Operator

Job Overview Level of Experience: Entry Level Employment Type: Contract on W2 (U.S. Citizens or GC Holders or EAD/CPT/OPT) Working Hours: 6PM - 6AM (3rd Shift) Location: Sandy, UT Duration: 12 Months Total Hours per Week: 40 Client: Medical Devices Company Job Category: Industrial Job Description Operate all material handling equipment, including electric forklifts, stretch wrappers, manual pallet jacks, and slip sheeter attachments. Utilize warehouse stock locator systems, bar code scanners, and electronic scanner systems. Move and rotate stock according to FIFO principles; arrange materials in the sterilizer/warehouse per KanBan bin requirements. Load and unload trucks, assist with company physical inventories and cycle counts. Prepare products for sterilization, including staging, sporing, and pallet preparation. Work twelve‑hour shifts, including weekends; maintain physical and mental capability to wear full‑face respirators and gas masks. Support the Sterilizer Supervisor and other Sterilization Operators in daily operations and overall performance of the sterilizer. Essential Functions Verify quantities on production transfers, delivery records, and freight bill of lading, noting any damage or shortages. Prepare products for manual or automated processing. On incoming raw materials or finished goods, prepare pallets, pull packing slips or product transfer records, and provide substitutes when necessary. Verify quantity, part number, P.O. number, and vendor lot number against packing slips or transfer records; hand over to receiving or shipping coordinators. On outgoing product, verify quantities and lot numbers; prepare pallets with slip sheets, stretch wrap, and load, calculating cube and weights. Prep materials per KanBan bin system. Assist with all paperwork and adding spores to products scheduled for sterilization. Safely operate pallet jacks, stretch wrappers, scales, cranes, barcode/RFID scanners, dock levelers, dock restraints, and wheel chocks under regulations. Pass annual physical exam and full‑face respirator fit tests. Mechanically inclined to repair equipment as instructed by maintenance. Troubleshoot and communicate equipment failures with maintenance. Assist in ethylene oxide emergencies when they occur. Conduct cycle counts and physical inventories of raw materials and finished goods as required. Maintain a neat and orderly work area. Comply with all local, state, federal, and client safety regulations, policies, and procedures, including RCRA Hazardous waste regulations. Adhere to local client quality policies, procedures, and practices through sound quality assurance principles. Perform other duties as assigned. Deliverables Complete daily cycle counts. Participate in continuous improvement programs to increase sterilization production efficiency. Work to reduce lost time and safety incidents. Work to reduce errors in all processes. Serve mandatory work during semi‑annual shutdowns (July/December). Qualifications Minimum Education: High School Diploma or equivalent GED. Good communication, math, and computer skills required. Minimum Experience: Two years at client or one year comparable outside warehouse experience. Good work and attendance record.
