Community Event Specialist

Salary Range: $20.00 per hour

The hourly rate is a fixed entry rate for this position and applies to all new hires. While our system may display a pay range, this roles starting rate is non-negotiable. Future pay increases are determined by performance, growth, and time in role, in accordance with our compensation policy.

Job Summary

As a Community Event Specialist at Wayfair, you help bring the Wayfair brand to life by creating welcoming and engaging experiences for our customers both inside and outside the store. Working closely with Store Leadership and the Marketing team, you support the execution of community events, local partnerships, supplier demonstrations, workshops, and seasonal activities that strengthen our connection with the local community and encourage customers to visit our stores.

In this role, you'll coordinate event logistics, build relationships with local organizations and vendors, and help ensure every event is organized, engaging, and executed to a high standard. You'll also capture event content, support promotional initiatives, and create memorable experiences that reflect Wayfair's commitment to outstanding customer service.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys event coordination, customer engagement, relationship building, and working in a fast-paced retail environment while partnering with others to deliver exceptional experiences. In addition, someone who knows how to fill in the gaps when needed (such as servicing customers, or greeting at the door).

Key Responsibilities

Event Coordination & Execution

• Coordinate and execute in-store and local community events that support brand awareness, strengthen community relationships, and drive customer engagement, following established marketing plans and event guidelines.

Coordinate Event Logistics

• Support all aspects of event execution, including setup, breakdown, scheduling, vendor coordination, equipment, signage, supplies, and ensuring the store is ready for each event.

Deliver Exceptional Customer Experiences

• Create a welcoming and engaging environment during events by providing outstanding customer service and ensuring guests have a positive experience.

Represent the Wayfair Brand

• Serve as a visible brand ambassador during events by welcoming customers, answering questions, and creating an inviting, customer-focused atmosphere.

Community Engagement

Support Local Partnerships

• Build and maintain relationships with local businesses, nonprofit organizations, schools, designers, and community groups to support store events and community engagement opportunities.

Participate in Community Outreach

• Represent Wayfair at local events and community activities that align with company initiatives and help strengthen the store's presence in the local market.

Coordinate with Vendors and Partners

• Work with suppliers and local partners to support product demonstrations, workshops, and other community-focused activities as directed.

Build Brand Awareness

• Help introduce new customers to Wayfair while creating positive experiences that encourage repeat visits and long-term customer relationships.

Marketing & Content Support

Capture Event Content

• Take photos and videos during events to support Marketing's social media and storytelling initiatives.

Support Marketing Initiatives

• Execute in-store marketing programs, promotions, and seasonal campaigns in partnership with the Marketing team.

Maintain Promotional Materials

• Ensure promotional signage, giveaways, event materials, and branded assets are organized, stocked, and available for scheduled events.

Share Ideas

• Provide feedback and suggestions to Marketing and Store Leadership on customer engagement opportunities and event improvements based on observations from the store.

Collaboration & Operational Excellence

Partner Across Teams

• Collaborate with Store Leadership, Marketing, People Operations, Visual Merchandising, and Operations to support successful event execution and business priorities.

Maintain Event Readiness

• Ensure event equipment, supplies, displays, and signage are organized, maintained, and ready for upcoming events.

Support Store Operations

• Assist with merchandising, promotional displays, seasonal transitions, customer service, and other operational needs during periods between scheduled events. Essentially rolling up your sleeves to fill in wherever is needed.

Adapt to Business Needs

• Remain flexible and organized while balancing event responsibilities with day-to-day store operations in a fast-paced retail environment.
