Operations Supervisor

Operations Supervisor – Job Summary Responsible for the operation of an assigned area and the direction and supervision of the operators in that area. Ensure assigned area follows the operating plan safely, reliably and remains environmentally compliant. Key Responsibilities Work with Unit Superintendents, Shift Superintendents and operations shift teams to ensure the unit(s) runs in a safe, reliable and environmentally sound manner while optimizing unit operations. Understand all unit's Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and make corrective actions when a KPI is not attained. Maintain Operations Supervisor logs and review operating logs, lab data, and other data against desired results. Assist in strategic unit planning, upcoming shutdowns, repairs, operating standards, and make critical decisions with unit teams. Initiate emergency procedures to address adverse situations and ensure operators prepare equipment correctly and safely for maintenance. Ensure work permitting and confined space entry procedures are followed. Work with Operations personnel to maintain acceptable unit operations and meet operator expectations. Manage training and development of assigned crew, review performance, and conduct performance appraisals. Manage the unit's chemical/catalyst inventory. Create a culture focused on continuous improvement, problem solving, and seeking assistance from relevant resources. Review EH&S practices and procedures with operating crews and ensure familiarity with EH&S hazards. Ensure environmental compliance, including surveillance and evaluation of CEMS. Ensure compliance with Process Safety Management (PSM), write First Reports of incidents, lead investigations, Hazop studies, and write/edit operating manuals and procedures. Maintain refinery housekeeping standards. Qualifications High School Diploma or G.E.D. required. 5+ years in Refining or Petrochemical industry, operations experience a plus. Experience in a unionized environment a plus. Familiarity with industry process safety and environmental regulations, work practices, compliance strategies, basic refinery processes, reliability principles, refining economics, basic budgeting and scheduling. Compensation and Benefits Salary range: $88,424 – $145,780. Compensation includes bonus eligibility, health care, retirement benefits and paid time off.
