Assistant Professor of Economics – Tenure Track The College of Business at Eastern Oregon University (EOU) invites applications for a full‑time, 9‑month tenure‑track Assistant Professor of Economics. The position emphasizes undergraduate teaching excellence, scholarly activity, and service in a regional, teaching‑centered public university setting. Responsibilities include: Teaching lower‑ and upper‑division undergraduate economics courses (e.g., Principles of Microeconomics, Intermediate Microeconomics, Money and Financial Markets, Environmental and Natural Resource Economics, Public Finance, Rural Economic Development, and other courses aligned with the candidate’s specialization). Maintaining an active scholarly agenda with the potential for both theoretical and applied research, particularly in regional or rural economic issues. Participating in program assessment, curriculum development, student career mentoring, and collaborative work with colleagues, staff, and community partners. Contributing to service to the department, college, university, and professional community as part of the tenure and promotion process. Minimum Qualifications: PhD in Economics or a closely related field (ABD candidates considered; appointment at instructor rank until doctorate conferred). Demonstrated potential for effective undergraduate teaching in face‑to‑face and online modalities. Evidence of scholarly activity or a credible research agenda. Experience with a learning management system (e.g., Canvas) or demonstrated capacity to teach effectively online. Commitment to the intellectual and professional development of undergraduate students. Successful completion of a criminal and credential background check; criminal history is not an automatic bar. Compliance with federal employment eligibility verification requirements; EOU does not sponsor work visas. Preferred Qualifications: Expertise in environmental or natural resource economics, regional or rural economic development, economic impact analysis, institutional economics, or public finance. Demonstrated excellence in teaching a broad range of undergraduate economics courses. Experience or interest in applied and community‑engaged research, especially in rural or natural resource–dependent contexts. Experience assessing and reporting student learning outcomes. Online teaching professional development or certification (e.g., Quality Matters). Record or potential for peer‑reviewed publications or other scholarly contributions appropriate to the discipline.
