About the Role

At xAI, we are driven by our mission to accelerate human scientific discovery and advance our collective understanding of the universe. We are seeking a dedicated Safety Specialist to join our Health, Safety, and Environment team at our Tulane site, ensuring a safe and compliant work environment for our innovative projects.

Responsibilities

• Site Safety Monitoring and Maintenance : Conduct regular inspections to identify and mitigate potential hazards, ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations and xAI safety standards.

• Supply Management : Oversee the inventory of safety supplies, restocking as needed to maintain adequate resources for emergency response and daily operations.

• Environmental Assessments : Perform manual sound and air quality assessments to ensure a healthy work environment, documenting findings and implementing corrective actions when necessary.

• First Aid Administration : Provide immediate first aid care to employees as required, coordinating with external medical services when needed.

• Safety Protocol Enforcement : Uphold and enforce site-specific safety plans, policies, and protocols, conducting training sessions to promote a culture of safety awareness.

Basic Qualifications

• OSHA 30 certification.

• Proficiency in Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Gmail, Drive, Calendar).

• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to assess and address safety risks effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

• EMT, AEMT, Paramedic, or Nursing certification/experience, with the ability to respond to medical emergencies.

• Background in electrical or mechanical systems, preferably in an industrial or construction setting.

• 2+ years of experience in construction safety or a related field, with a proven track record of implementing safety protocols.

• Familiarity with incident investigation and root cause analysis to prevent future safety incidents.

• Experience with safety management systems (e.g., ISO 45001) or environmental monitoring tools.

• Strong communication skills to deliver safety training and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Additional Requirements

• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.

• Willingness to work occasional evenings or weekends to support site operations or respond to emergencies.

• Physical capability to perform site inspections, including walking, climbing, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
