Salary Range: $76,100 - $110,000 / year
Additional Compensation: 2.5% Quarterly Cash Bonus

Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive, self-motivated Maintenance Planner to join our team. In this role, you will establish, maintain, and improve the maintenance planning and scheduling flow process. You will be accountable for day-to-day detailed maintenance planning, the repair and replacement of plant equipment, cost estimating, and maximizing mechanical availability-all while achieving budgeted targets in a safe, cost-effective, and timely manner.
The ideal candidate will provide planning support for projects and major maintenance events, using advanced planning techniques to effectively control maintenance activities and optimize craft utilization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Planning & Scheduling: Develop the full scope, cost, and time required for repairs, preventive, predictive, and improvement maintenance activities for plant equipment, buildings, and grounds.
  • Job Plan Development: Prepares job plans for scheduling, detailing parts, materials, special tools, external services, and documentation with planned costs. Sequence associated tasks, taking multi-craft alignment into account.
  • Resource Optimization: Maximize resources by identifying parts, materials, special tools, external services, rentals, and documentation through a streamlined scheduling process.
  • Systems Management: Maintain a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for managing and tracking work orders, backlog, spare parts, and maintenance history.
  • Data & Analysis: Monitor tools and parts inventory via the management system. Prepare reports, analyze data, and make recommendations for improving plant operations and solving maintenance-related problems.
  • Collaboration: Partner with the Maintenance Manager and operations supervision to schedule day-to-day manpower, contractor deployment, and resources. Support equipment upgrades, plant expansions, and planned shutdowns.
  • Continuous Improvement: Utilize root cause failure analysis (RCFA) to continuously improve plant mechanical reliability. Ensure maintenance personnel understand work instructions using a procedures-based maintenance strategy.
  • Compliance & Safety: Maintain safety, health, and environmental procedures to ensure strict OSHA and EPA compliance at all times.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience: 5-7 years of progressive, relevant work experience in a skilled maintenance role required. Experience in maintaining heavy industrial equipment (preferably in mechanical plant maintenance) is essential.
  • Planning Expertise: Demonstrated experience in maintenance planning, scheduling, and supervisory/leadership functions is a must.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong mechanical and some electrical expertise in troubleshooting and problem-solving. Deep knowledge of State/Federal EPA and OSHA compliance.
  • Software Skills: Proficiency with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and standard office software (MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Core Competencies: * Proven ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and use time efficiently.
    • Strong interpersonal skills to build partnerships and communicate complex topics concisely across all levels (including technical staff, business leaders, and contract personnel).
    • High energy, resilience, a bias for action, and a passion for excellence.
  • Education: BS-ME degree or a BS degree in a technical discipline is preferred.
  • Certifications: Six Sigma and Lean training is a plus.
  • Availability: Ability to work extended hours or weekends as needed when critical problems occur or tight deadlines must be met.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and climb ladders to examine work conducted in high, precarious elevations.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.
  • Work is split between a standard office setting and a mill/manufacturing environment with potential exposure to moving mechanical parts, outdoor weather, and noisy or dusty environments.
