WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY

As a Biologist, you will:

• Develop, implement, and evaluate scientific policies, procedures, standards, and practices related to biological science, including the application of new methods, approaches, and technologies to complex or emerging public health issues.
• Provide expert scientific advice, consultation and leadership in designing, coordinating and maintaining scientific project goals, objectives and priorities within a CIO and/or CDC/ATSDR and in the general public health community.
• Design, oversee, implement, and conduct biological science studies, surveys, and projects to identify, analyze, and address scientific issues affecting public health operations, policy, and program effectiveness.
• Collaborate with scientists, program officials, state health agencies, national and international partners, and other public health organizations to coordinate research activities, improve study implementation, synthesize scientific evidence, and inform future public health policies and program direction.

Basic Qualifications: You must possess one of the following-

A. Degree: biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.

OR

B. Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Minimum Qualifications: You must have one year specialized experience to perform successfully the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service performing at least ALL of the following:

• Applying biological science principles and methods to support the development or evaluation of scientific policies, procedures, or technical approaches related to public health.
• Providing scientific and technical support for biological science activities related to public health programs.
• Conducting biological science studies, surveys, or projects to address scientific issues affecting public health programs.
• Collaborating with scientists, program officials, or public health partners to support biological science activities and projects.
