Material Handler - 2nd ShiftMetals USA has an immediate opening for a Material Handler in the Waggaman, LA Facility. The Material Handler performs duties related to the storage and movement of inventory or equipment.Duties and Responsibilities:Receives, places/returns items into stock inventory locations.Tags materials for proper identificationPulls and assembles customer orders in order of delivery.Operates yard truck for the purpose of loading and unloading trailers.Operates cranes to load/unload trailers.Operates forklift (5k or 10k) to load/unload trailers.Securing loaded material onto truck and may load and unload materials.Completes and documents production and quality paperwork; follow shop system data collection procedures.Performs tasks that include grinding and using an oxy fuel torch.Maintains work areas in a clean, orderly, and safe manner, including the return of tools and equipment to designated areas.Assures all machine operation centers are timely loaded with material for production.Notifies management of product discrepancies, equipment malfunctions and/or personal injuries.Regular and predictable attendance is required to perform the duties of a Material Handler.Restocks material.Metals USA is committed to protecting our employees by creating and maintaining a workplace free of substance abuse.Metals USA offers a competitive starting salary and benefits plus upward mobility professional growth.Metals USA provides equal employment opportunities to applicants and employees without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, protected veteran status or disability.High school diploma or GEDMinimum 18 years of ageBasic arithmetic skills to calculate and convert decimals and fractions.Good verbal and written communication skillsProficient measuring skills and the ability to read measuring tapes, micrometers, and calipers.Ability to stand for long periods of time.Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and documents, blueprints.Industrial warehouse experience preferred.Experience working with heavy equipment preferred.Overhead Crane/forklift experience preferred.Detail oriented with ability to inspect material for quality.Valid OSHA Forklift Certification preferredValid Overhead Crane Certification preferredCandidate must pass a pre-employment drug screen.Physical Requirements:In a typical workday, employee is standing, walking, seeing, hearing, grasping, reaching, pushing, pulling, shoving, lifting, driving (yard truck or forklift), climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, talking. Must be capable of lifting wt. up to forty (40) lbs. with or without lifting devices.Working Conditions:Employee will work in an open warehouse the majority (98%) of the time and will be exposed to some or all of the following working conditions: extreme heat and cold, noise, vibration, oils and atmospheric conditions such as dust, fumes and metallic particles. Employee will be exposed to the hazards of working with heavy machinery. Employee is required to wear a hard hat, safety glasses, gloves and safety boots. The Company furnishes initial hard hat, gloves and safety glasses. The employee furnishes safety boots at own expense.
