Role Description The Insurance Agent role is a full-time hybrid position based in Waukee, IA, with flexibility for some work from home. The Insurance Agent will meet with prospective and existing clients to assess their coverage needs and recommend appropriate Shelter Insurance® products, including auto, home, life, and other personal and commercial lines. Daily responsibilities include generating leads, conducting policy reviews, preparing quotes, processing applications, and maintaining accurate client records. The role also involves providing responsive customer service, handling inquiries and claims-related questions, and building long-term relationships within the local community. The Insurance Agent will collaborate with internal teams to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements while meeting sales and service goals. Qualifications Demonstrated skills in Insurance Sales, with experience presenting coverage options and closing policies ethically and effectively. Solid understanding of Insurance products and concepts, including property, casualty, life, and related personal and commercial lines. Experience in Insurance Brokerage or agency environments, with the ability to compare and position products to meet diverse client needs. Basic to intermediate Finance skills, including interpreting premiums, deductibles, and policy terms to explain value to customers. Strong Customer Service capabilities, including clear communication, active listening, and problem-solving in client-facing situations. Valid insurance producer license (or eligibility to obtain one within a defined timeframe), in accordance with state regulations. Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, managing time and tasks both in-office and from home. High level of integrity, attention to detail, and comfort with technology for CRM systems, online quoting tools, and virtual communication.
