Head of Global Real Estate Controls - Executive Director

Job Description

The Chief Administrative Office (CAO) includes global functions that support JPMorgan Chase businesses in 60 countries, including Global Real Estate. CAO teams help the firm operate more effectively and safely by delivering critical services across global operations.

 

As  Head of Global Real Estate Controls , in CAO, you will lead the strategy and execution of GRE’s control objectives in alignment with enterprise standards and regulatory expectations. You will advise GRE leadership by turning strategy into clear priorities, governance routines, and management reporting. You will own execution of the framework that connects business risks to controls - and lead a team responsible for controls oversight, issue management, risk management practices and delivering CAO control objectives. This role is based in  New York and requires close partnership with GRE leadership and cross-functional stakeholders, including Finance, Sourcing, Legal, Compliance, and Global Security.

 

Job responsibilities

• Act as a strategic partner to GRE leadership, providing end-to-end controls oversight and issue management. Support third-party oversight for GRE, including review of intermediaries and related business activities; lead CAO Controls transformation initiatives across GRE functions.
• Identify, escalate, and drive remediation of control gaps and issues; ensure action plans are completed and results are sustained.
• Assess control design and operating effectiveness; improve efficiency, capabilities, and long-term performance.
• Run monthly and quarterly governance routines (including control forums) and deliver clear management reporting.
• Partner with audit and testing teams during control testing and internal audit activity to support strong outcomes.
• Manage required control management responsibilities for the GRE property management function, recurring certifications, attestations, and reporting requirements, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
• Lead, coach, and develop a team of direct reports across a broad controls portfolio, while driving alignment across a matrixed organization by partnering with Finance, Sourcing, Legal, Security, and other key stakeholders.
• Influence and develop regional and functional leaders, reinforcing accountability, collaboration, and ownership.
• Establish operating rhythms, resourcing models, role clarity, escalation paths, and performance measures appropriate for a global organization.
• Promote transparency, disciplined execution, operational rigor, continuous improvement, and cross-regional knowledge sharing.
• Strengthen organizational capability through talent assessment, team design, leadership development, and resource alignment to priorities.

 

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership experience across corporate real estate, operations, finance, commercial real estate advisory, or large-scale program delivery.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Real Estate, Finance, Engineering, or related field.
• Experience leading global programs, teams, and governance routines in complex matrix environments, with strong working knowledge of corporate and commercial real estate fundamentals.
• Demonstrated ability to translate strategy into execution through operating plans, governance frameworks, metrics, and disciplined management routines.
• Strong track record delivering cross-functional initiatives with senior stakeholders and regional leadership.
• Analytical rigor, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced global environment.
• Experience driving operational excellence, standardization, process improvement, and measurable outcomes at scale, with the ability to operate as a firmwide leader—setting direction and influencing outcomes at the most senior levels.
• Proven ability to translate operational and emerging risks into actionable insights for business and governance decisions.
• Adaptable and effective in ambiguity; able to solve problems, communicate clearly, drive agendas, and build consensus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to present risks, analysis, and recommendations to senior leaders, along with advanced proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel.
• Strong executive presence and sound judgment.
