Associate Director, Data and Digital Strategy

AbbVie seeks an Associate Director to lead digital transformation and data strategy for biologics laboratory operations in Worcester, MA. The role involves designing scalable digital solutions, integrating laboratory systems, advancing FAIR data principles, and partnering across functional groups to accelerate biologics development.
Responsibilities
- Lead laboratory digital transformation, defining future-state capabilities and scalable solutions across biologics development
- Drive integration of laboratory instruments and systems to automate data capture and reduce manual entry
- Serve as digital product leader for ELN, sample management, laboratory automation, and scientific data platforms
- Advance FAIR data principles and data standardization to improve scientific data reuse for analytics and modeling
- Define KPIs, dashboards, and communicate progress on digital transformation initiatives to stakeholders
Requirements
- Master's or Ph.D. in life sciences or science-based informatics discipline
- 10+ years pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry experience
- 8+ years in R&D or Operations functions
- Proven track record enabling new digital or data management capabilities
- Programming proficiency in Python, R, or equivalent languages
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) and AI/ML tools (TensorFlow, PyTorch)
- Demonstrated ability applying AI/ML techniques to biologics CMC development
