Location: Seattle, WA 98121 Pay rate: $35.00 - $40.94 Work schedule: Monday - Friday (100% On-site) with occasional weekend and evening work required

Overview

The EHS & Facilities Coordinator bridges the gap between physical building maintenance and strict environmental health and safety compliance. This hands-on, multi-faceted role requires an adaptable professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and excels at balancing mechanical, spatial, and contractor coordination tasks with meticulous regulatory reporting. This is a newly expanded scope position (combining safety, facilities, and administration) to help build out the local team.

Job Specifications

Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) & HazMat Compliance

• Dangerous Goods Shipping: Classify, package, mark, label, and document all outbound dangerous goods and hazardous materials in strict accordance with DOT, IATA, and IMDG regulations.
• Hazardous Waste Management: Assist with the collection, accumulation, safe storage, and disposal of hazardous waste. Prepare and sign uniform hazardous waste manifests in compliance with RCRA and EPA guidelines.
• Emergency Spill Response: Serve as an active, trained member of the on-site Emergency Spill Response Team. Participate in emergency drills, maintain/restock spill kits, and safely respond to incidental chemical or material releases.
• Compliance & Auditing: Maintain accurate safety logs, safety data sheets (SDS) chemical inventories, and regulatory files. Conduct routine inspections of hazardous waste storage areas and satellite accumulation points.

Facilities Coordination & Administration

• Building Operations: Serve as the central point of contact for day-to-day building maintenance issues and workspace needs.
• Vendor Management: Source, schedule, and oversee third-party contractors for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, janitorial, and general building repairs.
• Safety Infrastructure: Inspect and maintain critical facility safety assets, including eyewash stations, safety showers, fire extinguishers, and emergency exit paths.
• Space Coordination: Assist with internal office moves, complex furniture setups, and the general organization/upkeep of common areas and loading docks.

Must Have Skills / Requirements

• Experience: 3+ years of professional experience working in a facility maintenance, logistics, warehouse, or EH&S role.
• Regulatory Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of local, state, and federal environmental and safety regulations.
• Core Competencies: High attention to detail with the ability to pivot seamlessly from physical labor tasks to highly detailed administrative compliance paperwork.
• Physical Demands: Comfortable working on your feet for long intervals and capable of safely lifting up to 50 lbs. independently.

Desired Certifications (Or willingness to obtain immediately upon hire)

• DOT HazMat (49 CFR) certification for ground transport.
• RCRA Hazardous Waste Management certification.
• HAZWOPER 40-Hour certification (or current 8-hour refresher).
• IATA / IMDG certifications for air/ocean shipping.
• Note: The ideal candidate will already possess this safety experience; however, the hiring manager is willing to train an individual who does not have every certification.

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical trade certifications or safety compliance coursework is highly valued.
