Job Description

This role involves operating production equipment to package silica materials safely and efficiently in a high-volume industrial environment. You will work primarily on a swing night shift, performing a variety of physical and operational tasks that support continuous plant operations while adhering to strict safety and environmental standards.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment to attach large bags to chutes and control the flow of silica material using a lever, ensuring each bag meets the specified weight as shown on the scale.
• Lift and stack 50 lb bags from a waist-high table onto pallets, handling bags that come off the line approximately every 30 seconds.
• Seal and scan labels onto filled bags of material to ensure accurate identification and traceability.
• Maintain accurate counts and quality standards for all packaged materials, reporting any discrepancies or issues to the appropriate team members.
• Perform general cleanup of workstations, including sweeping, removing debris, and keeping equipment and surrounding areas clean and organized.
• Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment and adherence to respirator requirements once fitted.
• Participate in training to operate forklifts after approximately one month, as assigned, to move materials and pallets safely within the facility.
• Participate in training to drive trucks within the facility (not on public roads), as assigned and not during the first month of the contract.
• Work effectively in hot and cold conditions, maintaining productivity and safety standards throughout the shift.
• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to support smooth plant operations and respond to changing production needs.

Essential Skills

• Ability to consistently lift and handle 50 lb bags throughout the shift.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a respirator fit, including wearing a respirator as required by the role.
• Experience performing general labor tasks such as packaging, loading, unloading, and palletizing materials.
• Comfort working in hot and cold environments and maintaining performance in varying temperatures.
• Ability to use basic hand tools safely and effectively in an industrial setting.
• Willingness to work a swing shift schedule, including night shift hours from 5:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., and openness to any shift as needed.
• Attention to detail when monitoring scales, sealing bags, and scanning labels to ensure accurate weights and labeling.
• Reliability and consistency in following safety procedures and operational instructions.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with packaging, loading, unloading, or picking in industrial, construction, oil and gas, or similar environments.
• Prior exposure to hot and cold work environments in a manufacturing or warehouse setting.
• Forklift experience or willingness to train and become qualified to operate a forklift after approximately one month.
• Experience working with general labor tasks that require repetitive lifting and physical stamina.
• Comfort working around industrial equipment and materials in a plant environment.

Work Environment

This position is based in an industrial plant environment that handles silica materials. The role primarily operates on a swing night shift from 5:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., and you must remain open to working any shift as needed. The facility runs long shifts, with typical schedules on first shift from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and an average workweek that can range from 5 to 7 days. A 30-minute lunch break and two 15-minute breaks are available during each shift. You will work in conditions that can be hot or cold, depending on the season and plant operations, and you will use personal protective equipment, including a respirator once fitted. The work is physically demanding, involving frequent lifting of 50 lb bags, repetitive movements, and standing for long periods. You may operate or train to operate forklifts and drive trucks within the facility, using standard industrial equipment and tools in a production setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Eighty Four, PA.

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
