For more information, visit Position Purpose The Vice President, Global Medical Operations will build and lead the operating model, infrastructure, governance, and execution capabilities that enable Global Medical Affairs to deliver its strategy with quality, speed, consistency, and compliance. Reporting to the SVP, Head of Global Medical Affairs, this leader will partner across Medical Affairs, Finance, Program and Alliance Leadership, Clinical Development, Regulatory, Commercial, Legal, Compliance, Procurement, Information Technology, and regional teams to translate medical strategy into integrated plans, establish scalable processes and systems, optimize resources and vendors, and provide transparent performance insights. The role is accountable for operational excellence across the global medical portfolio, including annual and long‑range planning, budget and resource management, field medical operations, med comms and congress operations, governance, technology enablement, policy and procedure management, and launch readiness. Key Responsibilities Define and lead the Global Medical Affairs operating model, translating functional and asset strategies into integrated annual and long‑range operational plans, milestones, resource requirements, dependencies, and performance measures. Serve as a strategic adviser to the SVP, Head of Global Medical Affairs and the Medical Affairs Leadership Team on organizational priorities, capacity, investment choices, operating risks, and execution trade‑offs. Own the Global Medical Affairs budget, forecast, headcount, and resource‑allocation processes; partner with Finance and functional leaders to improve planning accuracy, manage commitments, and direct investment to the highest‑priority medical objectives. Provide enterprise oversight of Medical Affairs funding and giving processes, including independent medical education grants, scientific and educational sponsorships, charitable contributions, fellowships, and other external funding requests; establish transparent governance, funding criteria, decision rights, review committees, and appropriate separation from promotional activities in partnership with Medical, Legal, Compliance, Finance, and Procurement. Oversee the end‑to‑end lifecycle and financial stewardship of grants and sponsorships—from intake, eligibility screening, objective review, contracting, and payment through milestone tracking, reconciliation, outcomes reporting, close‑out, disclosure, and records retention—ensuring consistent documentation, audit readiness, budget visibility, and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, industry codes, and company policies. Lead the functions’s oversight of vendor and agency operating model, including ongoing performance management, quality oversight, and consolidation opportunities in partnership with Procurement, Legal, Finance, and Compliance. Oversee the strategy, implementation, adoption, governance, and continuous improvement of Medical Affairs systems and data capabilities, including CRM, medical information, publications planning, content review, congress, advisory‑board, grants, and analytics platforms. Build fit‑for‑purpose operational capabilities for Field Medical, including territory and capacity planning, CRM governance, activity and insight standards, training coordination, congress execution, and actionable reporting, while preserving appropriate scientific independence. Provide operational leadership for review of scientific communications, publications, medical education, advisory boards, congresses, and external engagement programs, ensuring integrated timelines, clear ownership, consistent execution, and effective agency coordination. Partner with asset and regional medical leaders to drive global launch readiness and lifecycle execution, including capability assessments, market readiness milestones, content and training operations, stakeholder‑engagement infrastructure, and post‑launch performance monitoring. Establish a Medical Affairs performance‑management framework that combines execution, quality, financial, capability, and impact measures; deliver concise insights and recommendations to leadership and governance bodies. Lead development, maintenance, and implementation of Medical Affairs policies, standard operating procedures, work instructions, records, and training; promote inspection readiness and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, industry codes, and company standards. Sponsor continuous‑improvement and change‑management initiatives that simplify workflows, strengthen cross‑functional interfaces, improve user adoption, and scale operating practices as the portfolio and organization grow. Recruit, lead, coach, and develop a high‑performing Global Medical Operations team, setting clear accountabilities and fostering a collaborative, inclusive, patient‑focused, and execution‑oriented culture. Represent Global Medical Operations in enterprise planning and cross‑functional forums, proactively identifying interdependencies with Clinical Development, Regulatory, Commercial, Market Access, Patient Advocacy, Quality, and other partners. Required Skills & Experience Advanced degree in a scientific, medical, pharmacy, public health, or business discipline preferred; equivalent relevant experience will be considered. Typically 12 or more years of progressive experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, including substantial leadership experience in Medical Affairs operations, strategy and operations, or a closely related global function. Demonstrated success building or transforming Medical Affairs operating models, governance, processes, systems, and teams across multiple assets, indications, or geographies. Strong knowledge of Medical Affairs activities and interfaces, including field medical, medical information, scientific communications and publications, medical education, evidence generation, external engagement, congresses, grants, and launch readiness. Proven ownership of complex budgets, forecasts, resource plans, vendor portfolios, contracts, and operational performance in a matrixed organization. Experience selecting, implementing, governing, and driving adoption of Medical Affairs technologies and data solutions; ability to translate business needs into scalable processes, requirements, and actionable analytics. Working knowledge of applicable regulatory, legal, compliance, privacy, and industry requirements governing Medical Affairs activities and external scientific exchange. Enterprise‑level leadership and influencing skills, with the judgment and executive presence to advise senior leaders, facilitate decisions, resolve ambiguity, and align diverse stakeholders without relying solely on formal authority. Track record of leading organizational change, continuous improvement, and capability building while maintaining business continuity and stakeholder engagement. Exceptional strategic thinking, operational problem‑solving, communication, and prioritization skills, with the ability to convert complex objectives into clear plans, accountabilities, and measurable outcomes. Demonstrated ability to attract, develop, and retain talent and to lead internal teams, consultants, and vendors across locations and time zones. Experience supporting pre‑launch or launch‑stage assets and global or regional Medical Affairs teams is strongly preferred; rare disease, neurology, ophthalmology, or high‑growth biotechnology experience is a plus. This position is a hybrid‑based position with expectation for balanced presence with office‑based and remote field based Medical Affairs staff. Travel This position will require approximately ~10% travel, including opportunities for presence at international conferences as needed. Compensation & Benefits At Stoke Therapeutics, we are committed to offering a comprehensive, competitive and thoughtfully designed total rewards program. The anticipated salary range for this role is $334,000 - $396,000. The final offer will be determined based on a variety of factors, including role scope, experience and qualifications, education, market benchmarks, internal equity, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, Stoke offers an annual bonus and equity participation.
